Summary
The Sustainability & Compliance Officer ensures organizational practices align with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) requirements, local and international environmental laws, and corporate sustainability objectives. The officer develops and manages sustainability and compliance strategies, monitors regulatory changes, drives continuous improvement, and leads reporting and internal education efforts.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor organizational sustainability strategies and initiatives.
- Interpret, communicate, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and policies (e.g., ESG, ISO 14001, GRI, SASB).
- Lead audits, assessments, and reporting processes on sustainability metrics and compliance performance.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to drive sustainability initiatives.
- Conduct risk assessments and perform mitigation planning on environmental and sustainability risks.
- Monitor regulatory trends and update policy frameworks accordingly.
- Prepare reports and presentations for management, regulatory bodies, and the public.
- Educate and train employees on compliance and sustainability best practices.
- Manage data collection, analysis, and reporting on sustainability KPIs.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Compliance, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in sustainability, compliance, or relevant regulatory roles.
- Demonstrated knowledge of sustainability standards (e.g., GRI, SASB, CDP), environmental regulations, and ESG frameworks.
- Proficiency in data analysis, environmental reporting, and risk assessment methodologies.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and project management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience implementing sustainability software and compliance tools preferred.
