  • Fundamental Awareness

    At the fundamental awareness level, users are expected to understand the basic purpose of Microsoft Teams and recognize its interface. They should know how to log in and out of the platform but may not yet be comfortable with more complex tasks.

  • Novice

    Novice users can perform basic tasks such as creating a new team, inviting members, starting chats, scheduling meetings, and sharing files. They can use basic formatting tools in chats and posts. However, they may still need assistance with more advanced features.

  • Intermediate

    Intermediate users are comfortable managing team settings and permissions, using advanced formatting tools, organizing teams and channels, and using the search function effectively. They can integrate other Microsoft Office apps into Teams and use the mobile app version.

  • Advanced

    Advanced users can host live events, record and share meetings, use advanced features of integrated apps, customize notifications, and manage guest access. They are also comfortable using keyboard shortcuts. They may start exploring automation and integration with non-Microsoft apps.

  • Expert

    Expert users can troubleshoot common issues and train others on using Teams. They can implement company-wide policies and settings, integrate non-Microsoft apps, automate tasks using bots and Power Automate, and understand and manage Teams data and analytics. They are fully comfortable with all aspects of the platform.
