Summary
The Healthcare Data & Compliance Analyst is responsible for evaluating healthcare data, ensuring regulatory and policy compliance, conducting audits, and supporting data-driven decision-making in alignment with industry and governmental guidelines. The role directly supports quality improvement, risk mitigation, and data-driven strategies in healthcare organizations.
Responsibilities
- Analyze healthcare data to ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance with regulations such as HIPAA, HITECH, and other state/federal standards.
- Develop, implement, and monitor data governance and compliance frameworks across healthcare information systems.
- Conduct internal audits and assessments to identify compliance risks and propose corrective actions.
- Create reports and dashboards to present findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Collaborate with IT, legal, and clinical teams to align data procedures with regulatory mandates.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of healthcare regulations, data security, and emerging compliance risks.
- Support investigations for compliance breaches and liaise with regulatory authorities as needed.
- Assist in developing and delivering compliance training programs to staff.
- Ensure accurate data management throughout the data lifecycle including collection, storage, transfer, retention, and destruction.
- Document and improve policies, procedures, and best practices regarding data protection and compliance.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Health Informatics, Data Analytics, Information Systems, Healthcare Administration, or a related field. Master’s preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in a data analysis, compliance, or similar healthcare role.
- Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations (HIPAA, HITECH, CMS, etc.) and relevant compliance standards.
- Proficient in data analytics tools (such as SQL, Excel, Power BI, and/or Tableau).
- Experienced with Electronic Health Records (EHR) and Health Information Systems
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities.
- Familiarity with data privacy and security best practices.
- Certification in healthcare compliance (e.g., CHC, CIPP/US) or data analytics is a plus."
