Expected Behaviors

  • Fundamental Awareness

    At this level, individuals have a basic understanding of UI design principles such as color theory, typography, and grid systems. They are aware of the tools used in UI design but may not be proficient in using them. Their knowledge is mostly theoretical, with little to no practical experience.

  • Novice

    Novices can create simple wireframes and have a basic understanding of user-centered design. They can use the basic features of UI design tools and apply color theory in their designs. They also understand the concept of responsive design.

  • Intermediate

    Intermediate designers can create detailed wireframes and prototypes. They understand user personas and scenarios and can design for different platforms. They are proficient in using advanced features of UI design tools and understand interaction design principles.

  • Advanced

    Advanced designers can conduct usability testing and create high-fidelity prototypes. They understand advanced interaction design principles and can design complex user interfaces. They are also aware of accessibility standards and know how to implement them.

  • Expert

    Experts can lead UI design projects and conduct and analyze user research. They can mentor junior designers and stay updated on the latest trends and technologies in UI design. They are innovative and push boundaries in UI design.
