Summary
A Sustainability & ESG Consultant advises organizations on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) best practices, helping them to implement sustainable strategies, ensure regulatory compliance, and enhance their overall ESG performance. The consultant analyzes operational impacts, engages stakeholders, measures sustainability metrics, and supports reporting and communications to align business objectives with global sustainability goals.
Responsibilities
- Conduct ESG and sustainability assessments and audits for client organizations.
- Develop and implement strategies for improving sustainability performance.
- Monitor regulatory developments and ensure compliance with relevant ESG standards.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret sustainability data for ESG reporting (e.g., GRI, SASB, TCFD).
- Engage with stakeholders—including employees, investors, and community members—to identify material ESG issues.
- Prepare and deliver presentations, reports, and recommendations to clients’ executive teams.
- Assist clients in preparing ESG disclosures and communicating progress transparently.
- Stay abreast of emerging sustainability trends, frameworks, and regulations.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Business, or a related field.
- Proven experience in sustainability consulting, ESG, or a closely related field.
- Strong understanding of ESG reporting frameworks (GRI, SASB, TCFD, CDP, etc.).
- Proficiency in qualitative and quantitative sustainability analysis.
- Excellent project management and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities.
- Familiarity with data analytics tools and sustainability software.
- Certifications such as LEED, ISSP, or GRI are an advantage.
