How to Create an Individual Development Plan

An Individual Development Plan turns your goals and skill gaps into a personalized learning plan. You set the goals and preferences, and StackFactor picks the learning activities.

For the best plan, complete your skill assessments first. That's how StackFactor knows what you already know.

Start a new plan

1. 1Open Development Hub and select My Talent Stack.
2. 2Open the + menu and choose Add training plan.

Step 1: Overview

Give your plan a Plan Name and a Start Date. If your team has goals set up, tick the team or company goals your plan supports.

Under Development Goals, add at least one goal, fill in its details, and click Next. You can choose from:

• Prepare to move to a new role — the role you're aiming for and when you want to be ready.
• Increase skill knowledge — a skill, the level you want to reach, and by when.
• Meet current role proficiency — reach the levels your current role requires, by a date you choose.

Step 2: Learning Preferences

These are filled in from your profile, so you only need to adjust them for this plan. Then click Next.

• Preferred content type — the kinds of content you like to learn from.
• Preferred content providers — put them in your order of preference.
• Scheduling — the days and times you have for learning.

Step 3: Review & Save

StackFactor builds your plan. You'll see a skill-gap table with each skill's Target Proficiency, Current Proficiency, and Gap, plus the learning activities chosen to close each gap.

Click Save as draft. You'll see New Training Plan created.

Step 4: Publish your plan

1. 1On your plan's Manage Plan page, click Publish and Start.
2. 2If your plan needs approval, add a comment for your manager and click OK to send the request. Otherwise, confirm to publish.
3. 3Once it's published, and approved if needed, your learning activities appear under Plans.
